Naturopath McDowall
Accredited McDowall Naturopath Providing Root Cause Focused Natural Health Care
Are you struggling with tiredness, poor health, or repeating symptoms that never seem to go away? Maybe you’ve searched for answers and found none, or been told it’s just something to live with. The truth is, things can be different, and a Brisbane naturopath may be able to help.
Rather than simply managing symptoms, Guided By Tradition helps you discover and address the underlying factors affecting your well-being. We use thorough assessments, targeted functional tests, and customised natural treatment plans to help restore balance and long-term health.
Understanding the Root Cause Approach
Picture this: you walk into your lounge room and see water dripping from above. You grab a bucket to catch the drops and clean up the mess below.
This helps temporarily, but the next time it rains, the leak comes back: and the damage might get worse.
Imagine taking a different approach, you head up to the roof, identify the root of the problem, and repair it. The leak is gone for good, and your living room stays dry.
That’s the difference a root cause approach makes.
How We Help You
We offer natural therapies and treatments for a wide range of health issues. Our holistic approach utilises nutrition, herbal medicine, and lifestyle advice and adjustments to promote natural healing and restore optimum health.

Skin conditions such as acne and eczema are more than just cosmetic issues, often indicating deeper imbalances involving inflammation, hormone concerns, immune function or nutritional deficiencies. Naturopathic treatment works to identify and address internal and external triggers while supporting skin healing and resilience through nutrition, herbal medicine and lifestyle changes.

The health of your hormones can affect your mental and physical health, including energy, mood, and overall well-being. Natural medicine can help to identify and correct hormonal imbalances that contribute to thyroid conditions, adrenal fatigue, fibromyalgia, and more. Treatment may involve nutritional and herbal support, lifestyle adjustments, and strategies to improve energy, mood, metabolism, and overall endocrine health.

Women’s health conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis, fertility challenges, pregnancy, and menopause are deeply connected and often influenced by hormonal, physical, and emotional factors. Naturopathic treatment helps bring the body back into balance and supports reproductive health at every life stage.

Your gut health affects every part of your body, from digestion and energy levels to skin and hormonal balance. Naturopathic treatment seeks to resolve the root causes of poor gut function using a combination of dietary changes, targeted supplements, and personalised lifestyle strategies.

Conditions like anxiety, depression and OCD can influence every aspect of daily life, from relationships and sleep to concentration and physical well-being. Naturopathic treatment focuses on identifying root causes such as nutrient imbalances, poor gut health, and chronic stress to help restore mental and emotional stability.

A holistic approach like naturopathy can assist with numerous health challenges, including allergies, migraines, chronic fatigue, and children’s health. It goes beyond surface symptoms, addressing the true causes to help you achieve long-term wellness and a better quality of life.

Optimal Pathology Interpretation
Being told your test results are ‘normal’ doesn’t always mean your body is functioning at its best. Standard pathology ranges are broad and population-based. We interpret your results through a naturopathic lens to uncover what’s truly optimal for your unique health profile.
Functional Testing
We offer comprehensive functional testing, such as gut microbiome mapping, DUTCH hormone testing, hair and heavy mineral analysis, adrenal studies, and EndoMAP testing, to gain a detailed insight into your body’s systems and build an effective, personalised wellness plan.
Why Choose Us?
Qualified Naturopath
Rebecca is a qualified naturopath holding a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) from the Australasian College of Natural Medicine, along with specialised training in skin health and mental well-being. She combines knowledge and compassion to address the root cause of illness.
Comprehensive Assessment
Our approach begins with in-depth assessment, combining symptom review, health history, and diagnostic testing to identify key nutritional and environmental factors. This ensures we address the root cause rather than masking symptoms.
Individualised Approach
Each person is unique, and no treatment is one-size-fits-all. Your plan is personalised to your specific presentation and constitution, so it works with and for you, helping you to reach your health goals.
Customer Testimonials
Rebecca has been a wealth of knowledge throughout my health journey in healing my gut and on going fatigue issues. She was very thorough and after our few months of working together I now feel like a new woman.

Google review
I’ve been seeing Rebecca for over a year now after experiencing (Andropause) a steady physical decline beginning in my forties. As a physically active 46 year old man I was constantly injured, recovering from injury or getting sick after strenuous exercise, resulting in muscle loss, weight gain and steadily declining physical performance. But with Rebecca’s knowledge I’m back in the gym and feeling stronger and faster than I was in my thirties…. highly recommended.

Your Naturopathy Questions Answered
How is naturopathy different from conventional medicine?
While conventional health care often focuses only on managing symptoms, naturopathy looks at the bigger picture, working to support your body’s natural ability to heal by identifying and addressing the factors contributing to your symptoms. This can include nutritional guidance, herbal medicine, lifestyle advice, and functional testing to create a personalised treatment plan.
Do I need a referral to see a naturopath?
You don’t need a referral to see us, simply book an appointment at our McDowall clinic or choose an online consultation from the comfort of your home, wherever you are in Australia.
What does the initial consultation involve?
Your initial consultation is up to one hour and provides a detailed foundation for your treatment plan. We’ll discuss your health goals, full health history, lifestyle habits, diet, pathology results (if available), and any physical signs or symptoms. This helps identify the factors affecting your health and guides the most effective strategies for you. Herbal and nutritional supplements may be recommended, and further testing may be suggested if needed.
How many sessions do I need?
Follow-up consultations are generally booked within 2–4 weeks to review your progress, discuss results, and make adjustments to your plan. Depending on your individual health journey, you may notice changes early or require ongoing support for lasting results.
Is naturopathy covered by my health insurance?
At this stage, naturopathy isn’t covered by private health insurance in Australia. We recognise that choosing to invest in your health is important, and our goal is to provide individualised, quality care that supports lasting wellness. You can book a complimentary discovery call to see if naturopathy suits your needs.
Is naturopathic treatment evidence-based?
Yes, naturopathy is an evidence-informed practice that blends traditional approaches with current research. Each herbal, nutritional, and lifestyle recommendation is grounded in science and personalised to your unique health goals.
Can you work with my GP or healthcare team?
Of course. Naturopathy can be used alongside mainstream medicine, and your naturopath can coordinate with your GP or healthcare team to ensure a balanced, holistic approach to your well-being.
Can naturopathy help with chronic health conditions?
Yes. Naturopathy can provide effective, personalised support for many chronic illnesses, including thyroid conditions, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, migraines, and digestive disorders. Our treatment approach focuses on addressing the underlying factors that may be contributing to your condition, while providing support in managing symptoms and improving day-to-day well-being.
I'm on medication. Can I take supplements or herbal remedies as well?
While many supplements and herbal products can be taken with prescription medications, this isn’t true in every case. We review your current treatments thoroughly to ensure everything prescribed is safe, effective and suited to your well-being.
