Pregnancy Naturopath Brisbane

Supporting you and your baby with safe, natural care for a healthy, happy pregnancy.

Bec is so knowledgeable and has been able to help me in so many aspects of my life and health. Any question I have for her, she knows the best way to help, and it works! Her approach is about thriving through eating real, good quality foods and doesn’t just look for a quick fix or supplements that you need to take long term.

She has helped with low energy postpartum, getting my body in the best position for another baby, recurring miscarriage, optimal health in pregnancy, my eczema/pregnancy pigmentation and I’m sure more to come.

I have referred many friends and family who have also had a lot of success with Bec’s recommendation’s. Can’t thank her enough for everything she has helped me with so far.

Naturopathy and Pregnancy

Pregnancy is an incredible journey, but it can also bring challenges – from morning sickness, and fatigue to digestive issues, hormonal changes, and mood fluctuations, the body undergoes dramatic shifts during this time.

Our approach blends nutritional medicine, lifestyle strategies and carefully‑selected supplements to help you feel your best while complementing your obstetric or midwifery care.

Safety first: Every recommendation is checked for pregnancy suitability and potential interactions.
Evidence‑guided: We use current clinical guidelines and high‑quality reviews to inform care (see Reference list).
Local & accessible: Online and in‑person support for Brisbane and surrounding suburbs.

Naturopathy does not replace medical care. We collaborate with your GP, midwife or obstetrician and promptly refer when needed.

How Naturopathy Can Help Support You Through Pregnancy

How Naturopathy Can Help Support You Through Pregnancy

Naturopathic care during pregnancy aims to support your body naturally while addressing common concerns and enhancing overall maternal and foetal health.

Step 1 – Initial Consultation (60 minutes)
Your first appointment involves a detailed review of your health history, current symptoms, diet, lifestyle, and previous pregnancy experiences (if relevant). We take the time to understand your individual needs, goals, and any concerns you may have.

Step 2 – Testing & Investigation (if appropriate)
Where appropriate, we may recommend safe testing to assess nutritional status, hormone balance, digestion, and immune function. This ensures that any interventions are personalised and evidence-based, supporting both you and your baby.

Often, we recommend additional testing alongside the usual ones that you do with your general practitioner to gain a deeper understanding of your nutritional needs.

Examples include: pathology blood testing for B12, folate, iron, vitamin D, thyroid & blood sugar status.

Occasionally, functional testing is recommended, such as stool microbiome testing. The microbiome of the mother is the ‘blueprint’ for the babies microbiome – encouraging a diverse and healthy microbiome in the mother will improve the babies microbiome (this is known as the maternal-offspring exchange), which is linked to improved health outcomes in your offsprings early childhood and later life (Mueller et al., 2015)!

Step 3 – Individualised Support Plan
Treatment plans are tailored to your needs and may include:

  • Nutritional guidance throughout the trimesters, and post partum, to optimise maternal and foetal health
  • Education around foods to avoid, and how to optimise your environment to support you and your baby
  • Safe herbal and nutritional supplementation where required
  • Lifestyle strategies for energy, sleep, and stress management
  • Support for common pregnancy issues such as nausea, heartburn, fatigue, constipation, stretch marks, mood changes, pre-eclampsia, hemorrhoids, and gestational diabetes

Step 4 – Ongoing Support
Follow-up consultations allow us to monitor your progress, adapt your plan as your pregnancy advances, and ensure ongoing comfort and wellbeing for both you and your baby. Most people choose to consult every 4 weeks.

Your Pregnancy Questions Answered

When prescribed by a qualified naturopath, supplements are chosen for safety and effectiveness to support maternal and fetal health. Dosages and types are carefully tailored to each individual.

Yes. Many women benefit from preconception support to optimise nutrition, hormone balance, and overall health before trying to conceive.

Consultations are usually spaced 4–8-12 weeks apart, depending on your needs and pregnancy stage, to provide ongoing support and adjustments.

No. Naturopathy complements your standard medical care. We work alongside your obstetrician or midwife to support your health naturally and safely.

The guidelines recommend a multivitamin, as it is shown to protect against the likelihood of the baby developing congenital abnormalities such as neural tube defects, cardiovascular anomolies, oral cleft, limb defects and/or low birthweight. It is important to choose the RIGHT multivitamin that uses good quality nutrients in an evidence based dose.
